Mortgage lenders are not in the business of “Saving Families Homes”, they are in the business of lending money.  When a family stops making their house loan payments, the lender has the right to call up the loan by putting the family home into mortgagee sale / foreclosure.

The mortgagee sale / foreclosure process gives the lender the right to sell the family home so they can get their money back and any other costs incurred.

The lender must, however fulfil certain strict legal requirements including serving the homeowner with the proper notice.  If these requirements are not met the homeowner may be able to stop the lenders attempt to sell the property. 

Families can easily prepare and submit its own proposal, as homeowners have those rights under the law, and within the mortgagee sale & /foreclosure rules that the lender is required to observe.  

Unfortunately lenders for one reason or another may not readily disclose these obligations to the family homeowner and many families are simply fearful or awkward in trying to negotiate with banks.
